This guide explains how a vending machine operator should purchase, register, and load a SIM card to enable internet connectivity for the vending machine. The machine functions similarly to a mobile phone, so the SIM card must be active and have sufficient mobile data at all times.
1. Purchase a SIM Card
Visit a nearby convenience store, mobile shop, or authorized retailer.
Purchase a SIM card (approximately ₱40).
You may choose any mobile network provider, such as:
Smart
Globe
Other local operators
Important:
Select the network with the strongest and most stable internet signal in the vending machine’s location to ensure reliable machine connectivity.
2. Register the SIM Card
Before the SIM card can be used, it must be registered according to local regulations.
Insert the SIM card into a mobile phone temporarily.
Complete the SIM registration process through the provider’s registration portal or app.
Provide the required information:
Full name
Email address
Any additional required identification
Wait for confirmation that the SIM card has been successfully registered.
3. Load Mobile Data
After registration, you must load mobile data so the vending machine can connect to the internet.
Option A: Smart SIM Card (Recommended)
Smart offers non-expiry data, which is ideal for vending machines.
Steps:
Open the GCash app.
Select Buy Load.
Enter the Smart SIM card number.
Choose a Non-Expiry Data package.
Confirm the purchase.
Note:
Non-expiry data can typically last 2–3 months, depending on usage.
Always check the remaining data balance periodically to avoid machine disconnection.
Option B: Globe SIM Card
Globe currently does not offer non-expiry data plans.
Steps:
Load data using GCash, GlobeOne app, or prepaid load retailers.
Select a monthly data plan.
Ensure the plan is renewed every month to keep the vending machine online.
4. Insert the SIM Card into the Vending Machine
Power off the vending machine (if required by the device manual).
Locate the SIM card slot on the machine’s communication module.
Insert the registered and loaded SIM card.
Power on the vending machine.
Wait for the machine to connect to the network.
5. Monitor Data Usage
To ensure uninterrupted service:
Check the remaining data balance regularly.
Reload data before it runs out.
Maintain an active SIM card at all times.
The vending machine operates like a mobile phone when it comes to connectivity.
If a phone requires a registered SIM card and active data, the vending machine requires the same setup to communicate with the system and process transactions.
